Read this first: HTV lives or dies on firm, even pressure — a light or uneven press is the usual reason vinyl lifts after a wash. Numbers below are common starting points; test on a scrap and log your result.

HTV settings by vinyl type

Specialty vinyls run a little hotter and longer than standard. This is the table the printable is built around.

Vinyl type Temp Time Peel
Standard / everyday305–315°F
150–157°C
10–15 sWarm / cold*
Glitter~320°F15–20 sCold*
Flock~320°F~15 sWarm / cold*
Holographic / metallic305–320°F10–15 sCold*
Stretch / athletic290–305°F10–15 sWarm*

*Common starting points · medium-firm pressure · always follow the warm/cold peel printed on your specific vinyl.

Why a printable beats guessing

Every roll of vinyl wants something slightly different, and the differences are easy to mix up mid-weed: glitter needs more time, stretch wants less heat, holographic prefers a cold peel. A printed chart by the press means you set the right numbers for this roll without unrolling the manufacturer's tiny insert again. It is the fastest way to stop lifting edges and cracked layers before they happen.

Add a log and you stop relearning the same lesson. Note the temp, time, and peel that survived a wash on your press, and the next batch of that vinyl is a copy, not an experiment.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a printable HTV heat settings chart? +

Yes. The free 1-page cheat sheet includes standard and glitter HTV starting points. For a printable chart covering more vinyl types plus a place to log what works — along with four other methods — the $7 Settings Pack is an instant PDF with lifetime access.

What temp and time do you use for iron-on vinyl? +

Standard HTV presses at about 305–315°F (150–157°C) for 10–15 seconds, glitter around 320°F for 15–20 seconds, flock about 320°F for 15 seconds, holographic 305–320°F for 10–15 seconds, and stretch/athletic about 290–305°F for 10–15 seconds — all with medium-firm pressure. Follow the warm or cold peel for your vinyl.

Why does my HTV lift at the edges after washing? +

Usually too little pressure, too little time, or the wrong peel. Press firm and even, give it the full time, peel per the carrier, and re-press with a cover sheet. See the HTV won't stick fix for the full checklist.

Is the printable HTV chart an instant download? +
